The 21,000-square-foot Planet Fitness Amsterdam is set to open in November, the 17th location opened by owner Dave Leon . Eleven of those location are in the Capital Region of upstate New York. Meanwhile, Leon purchased a former Grand Union supermarket on Columbia Turnpike in East Greenbush and will be relocating and expanding an existing location nearby. That location is set to open soon. Its a report that would be music for John Stanton, founder of the Running Room, now with 120 outlets across Canada, and co-author of a new book, Family Fitness. Vokoun Cleared For Workouts










The Penguins have ruled Vokoun out of their season opener Thursday against New Jersey. He had a procedure Saturday to dissolve a blood clot in his pelvis. A Czech-language report today said Vokoun, 37, might have to retire from hockey and that he felt lucky to be alive, according to a Google translation. It quoted the goaltender as saying he had blood clots from "mid-thigh almost to the heart." Walsh, in an email exchange, said Vokoun's thoughts were not portrayed in their entirety in the story. Size Matters At China Bodybuilding Contest










It was an open category so she went up against both light and heavyweights mixed all up in one. Most of the girls were actually taller and larger than she is. But she worked hard and had a good showing. It wouldve been nice if it was separated, but she did really well. Ms DeRosa added: It was a very big competition with over 200 athletes from 29 countries.
